BOWLING GREEN — Woods Smoked Meats in Pike County Missouri brought home a large number of top honors during the recent Missouri Association of Meat Processors convention.

The longtime Bowling Green meat processor announced the awards this week after competing in the statewide event that recognizes excellence in meat processing and specialty products.

Among the top honors earned by Woods Smoked Meats were Grand Champion awards for bacon, specialty game products, flavored bacon, dry cured bacon, snack sticks, smoked and cooked sausage, cooked ring bologna, cooked summer sausage, and smoked turkey. The company also received the MU Cured Meat Excellence Award.

Additional honors included Reserve Champion awards for bone-in ham, flavored snack sticks, and fresh bratwurst, along with a Champion award for specialty smoked sausage and a Reserve Grand Champion award for a specialty game product.

Woods Smoked Meats has been a staple in Bowling Green since 1952, producing smoked meats, sausages, bacon, and other specialty products while also offering

custom meat processing and a retail deli.

The business grew out of a family meat market originally started in Pike County Missouri in the late 1940s and has earned hundreds of industry awards over the decades for its smoked meat products.

Company leaders credited their employees for the recent success, noting the awards reflect the work and dedication of the entire Woods Smoked Meats team.
