PITTSFIELD — High school students interested in a future in healthcare have a new opportunity to gain hands-on experience through a local program being promoted by Illini Community Hospital and Blessing Health System.

The Youth Corps program is open to students ages 14 and older and offers an 11-week experience designed to introduce participants to real-world healthcare environments while giving back to their community. Students will work one shift per week during the program, allowing them to build experience while maintaining school commitments.

Organizers say the program is ideal for students looking to strengthen college applications, resumes, and career pathways in the medical field. Those who complete the program will receive a formal letter documenting their service hours.

Students interested in participating are encouraged to complete a Volunteer Interest Form as soon as possible through the Blessing Health System website. After submissions are reviewed, selected applicants will be contacted for interviews.

With limited spots available, organizers say early application and a strong commitment are key for students hoping to take part in the upcoming session.
